Searching for a job
On line recruitment has fast become the preferred method of searching for a new job by many and indeed recruiters continue to rely on finding new talent through advertising on job sites such as Retail Options. When you register, ensure you are presenting a true and accurate profile of yourself to avoid being inundated with job alerts that are not relevant to your requirements. Also it would be counterproductive if your CV is finding its way to the wrong recruiters. It is important you check the right boxes in the skills area, salary info, location etc this way you should only receive job alerts that are of interest to you. |

Ensure that your CV is a true reflection of your employment history and all achievement claims you make can be backed up when questioned at interview. DO NOT miss out any jobs from your employment history that were maybe short tenure. Some candidates wrongly assume that to declare a short tenure job may make them look like a 'job hopper' so to leave it out is the 'sensible' thing to do. THIS IS WRONG. Any new employer will be sure to find out about the undeclared job through either your P45 or tax coding and even an old colleague that unintentionally mentions it to someone in the business. This can lead to serious problems and in most cases will end in dismissal for supplying false information. When you receive a message from an interested employer or recruitment consultancy it is essential you respond accordingly within a sensible timescale, usually within 48 hrs. |
